Creation of the Clinique Canopée

The Covid-19 pandemic in Guyana highlighted the shortcomings of the Guyanese health system. It has demonstrated the need to have quality health infrastructure in the territory in order to provide appropriate responses, and highlighted the lack of downstream beds for hospital services, which has been compensated by the implementation of alternative solutions and conventions (hotels, beds in medical and social structures...). The creation of the clinic will make it possible to: — increase the capacity of care in adult and child medicine; — to make available to French Guiana more staff, medical equipment, and a specialised technical platform against Covid-19 (additions of rooms with negative pressure, outsourcing of the reception and waiting places of the clinic, presence of oxygen in the rooms...); — remedy some of the deficiencies in the medical supply by promoting the establishment of liberal doctors and telemedicine; — to ensure equitable treatment for all users, regardless of their social coverage, by offering care services essentially in line with the expressed unmet needs and by promoting the establishment of carers and doctors in French Guiana. Because of its specialisation in SSR children, palliative care, and EVC/EPR unit, the Clinic caters to the needs of the entire Guyanese population (30 day hospitalisation beds will be open for children).
