In France, a single information system (SI) called PRESAGE was set up in 2000 for the management of European programmes. It was operational until the end of the 2007-2013 programming period. To meet the increased demands of the European Commission for dematerialisation for the period 2014-2020, and within a framework of decentralisation of ERDF and ESF funds, a new IT system was developed from 2013 onwards under the name SYNERGIE. It is used by all managing authorities, notably regions, certification authorities (mainly DGFIP) and audit authority (CICC) for the steering, monitoring, management, certification, control and audit of European programmes in France. The Synergie Programme Directorate is in charge of managing the design and maintenance of this information system, used in France for the management of European programmes. The purpose of this project is to finance the costs of its staff.
