In recent years, the market for plant-based substances, mainly for the agri-food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors, has grown significantly in Europe and around the world. If these ingredients are obtained mainly from agricultural resources, a significant proportion comes from the gathering of wild plant resources. If the collection is carried out throughout the national territory, the main areas are located in the mountain ranges known for the richness of their biodiversity. To these samples, are also added those of the inhabitants and the many tourists frequenting the massifs. This reality often remains unknown and underestimated by public authorities and managers of natural spaces. The situation is all the more paradoxical that certain industrial plant supply strategies can place the alpine flora at the heart of real speculation. Given the pressure on biodiversity, it is therefore necessary to look at the activities of gathering on the alpine massif and to question the impact of these samples on species populations. The CARE project aims to establish a precise inventory of the collection. In this sense, it is the starting point for the adoption of measures to protect the alpine flora. But the project goes further and also aims to raise awareness among all stakeholders about the protection of biodiversity.
