Act II Cathar Country: an innovative network heritage and cultural mediation policy

The Departmental Council of Aude has committed itself to Act II of the Cathar Country, its local development programme, based on the heritage of 20 sites in its territory: 2 cities (Carcassonne, Fanjeaux), 10 castles (Villerouge Terménès, Aguilar, Termes, Puilaurens, Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Arques, Lastours, Saissac and Montségur in Ariège), 7 abbeys (Fontfroide, Saint Papoul, Caunes, Villelongue, Lagrasse, Alet Les Bains, Saint Hilaire) and 1 museum (Quercorb). The renewal of the Act II Cathar Country programme is reflected in a partnership work around 5 projects (architectural signature, cultural transmediation, promotion, road signs and professionalisation of actors). The project presented under the ERDF POI 2014-2020 concerns the works and services to be carried out for the two “architectural signature” and “cultural transfer” projects for 12 sites in the Pyrenees massif: 8 castles (Villerouge Terménès, Aguilar, Termes, Puilaurens, Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Arques and Montségur in Ariège), 3 abbeys (Lagrasse, Alet Les Bains and Saint Hilaire) and the Quercorb Museum. The other 8 sites are supported by the ERDF under the Languedoc-Roussillon OP 2014-2020.
