The Great Crossing of the Massif Central: Anchoring and developing a mythical roaming!

The Grande Traversée du Massif Central (GTMC) is a mountain bike route connecting the Morvan to the Mediterranean coast. This circuit partly takes over the former Chamina route, which disappeared in 2007. The new homelessness now crosses 3 major regions, 12 departments and 5 Natural Parks, offering mountain bikers all the diversity of landscapes and heritage of the Massif Central over 1 700 km! After a phase of defining the issues and objectives of the collective project, several initiatives have made it possible to revive this mythical route, once recognised for its strong potential for attractiveness and its high attendance. The project is led by a collective of many institutional and tourist partners of the Massif Central (Regions, Departments, Parks, etc.) who work in collaboration within an itinerary committee led by the association IPAMAC.
