The general objective of the project is to modernise and develop the Chilia Veche port in order to ensure the conditions for increasing the long-term competitiveness and commercial, industrial and touristic attractiveness of the region for investments, capitalising the environmental heritage, creating new employment opportunities and improving the living conditions of the population. The implementation of the project “MODERNISHATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE VECHE CHILIA PORT” aims to achieve the following specific objectives: • Remediation of defects and damage identified in the Technical Expertise that influences the resilience and stability of the infrastructure; • Bringing the resilience of the infrastructure to the level necessary to carry out the expected activities safely; • Ensuring the depths of access to the quay for river vessels carrying goods and passengers through technological dredging works in the aquarium of berths; • Securing the key with all the necessary facilities: bolars, bins, quay stairs, scondrus dwellings, organos, in sufficient number for each berth; • Restoration and modernisation of existing utilities networks: electricity and drinking water, with the identification of reliable power supplies; • Introduction of new utility networks: telephone and Internet; • Development of port platforms and lands available for exploitation and/or subsequent investments; • Ensuring the connection of the two sites – passenger berth and commercial berth – for goods and passengers; two variants of access paths will be considered: either on one of the streets of the village, or on the right bank, in the non-floodable area. The investment “MODERNISHATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PORT OF VECHE CHILIA” is described in terms of technical solutions under scenario 2, the technical economic scenario I, the scenario recommended by the designer, in chapter 3.
