Iasi Airport is located on the Trans-European Transport Core Network (TEN-T CORE), which aims to create a complete transport network between Member States, at common standards. This objective has also been translated into the national transport strategy, defined by the General Transport Master Plan, and aims to facilitate the movement of people and goods between EU Member States and those adjacent to the Eastern Border. In this context, the aim of the project is aligned with that of the European strategy, as its implementation aims to improve the airport infrastructure and increase the security of the airport. The project falls under category B of activities financed under OS 2.3, comprising non-economic investments aimed at safety and security for air transport infrastructure. The project “Perimetral Protection System” contributes to the achievement of the specific objective OS 2.3 of the liop (Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020) – Increasing the sustainable use of airports as it aims to increase the safety of passengers transiting RA Iasi Airport. This makes the airport more attractive and thus contributes to the increase in the number of passengers. The project proposed for financing falls into the category of B-type projects (New investment projects in airport infrastructure, targeting non-economic activities in the field of safety and security). By implementing the investment project, it optimises the use of the existing infrastructure (take-off-landing track) and improving the efficiency of its use and it is allowed to increase the number of passengers boarded/disembarked. The programme indicator of the project (2S17) is represented by the achievement of a modernised airport The result indicator of the project (2S13) is represented by the increase in the number of passengers as a result of the investment. The realisation of the perimeter protection system, contributes to increasing the level of safety and security of passengers and of the entire activity carried out at the airport, reducing the number of incidents that may occur during the airport transit, as well as the emergency resolution of the security situations that may occur. Thus, airlines’ interest in operating flights to several destinations increases, as the transit of the airport will be made in increased security conditions and in much shorter time. Given the dynamics of air transport and the low accuracy of long-term forecasts and in line with the MPGT recommendations, the evaluation of the result indicator will take into account a reduced time horizon of 5 years until 2026. — Passengers in the option with project: 1.692.344 – Passengers in the option without project: 1.374.408 The overall objective of the project is to increase safety and security
