Extension terminal passengers departures on the north side

The main objective of the investment is the expansion of the Passenger Departure Terminal, northward, both on the ground floor of the building and on its first floor, on the area of the A1, A2, A3 boarding gates, intended for domestic flights and on the area of boarding gates B1, B2, B3, B4 intended for external flights as well as an eastward extension aligned with the extension north to the side of Axis 12. In the operation of the Terminal Passengers Departure Building, it was found that the boarding gates do not have a buffer zone to ensure the maintenance of the appropriate ambient temperature in the regrouping areas of the Passengers Departure Terminal so that during the boarding of passengers the Ramanand gates open cause great energy losses necessary to heat or cool the respective areas. In order to analyse the expansion of the terminal, a number of assumptions and scenarios have been taken into account regarding the future evolution of the context and factors relevant to the airport’s activity, on issues such as: Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, but also scenarios regarding future evolutions in the sense of reversal and belonging or disappearance of the space. — The evolution of the air transport market – scenarios on distinct profiles (ultra low cost, low cost, legacy, busines/private, or charter vs scheduled, etc.) – Evolutions of other airports with an impact on the evolution of Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj R.A. – Improvement of the ground transport infrastructure by implementing projects with an impact on air transport demand (implementation of major road and/or ferioviar transport projects in accordance with national plans and strategies). The new extended terminal will ensure the proper conduct of the specific processing activities of passengers and their baggage (registration, security control, border document control, customs control, etc.), its processing capacity being dimensioned so as to ensure the processing of passenger and luggage flows at peak times, in order to respond to future needs based on traffic results and forecasts within the traffic survey. There will also be a physical connection between the new and existing terminals. In view of the upward trend in air traffic, there will be difficulties in meeting airlines’ demands for flight scheduling, especially during peak hours, due to the limited number of aircraft parking positions so that the existing boarding/disembarkation platform needs to be expanded. By achieving the investment objective “Enlargement Terminal Passengers Departure on the North Side”, we aim to achieve the following strategic objectives: Increasing passenger traffic; Socio-economic development of the area affected by the pandemic; Increasing the number of tourists and the sustainable development of the region; Attracting new air carriers.
