The overall objective of the project is to increase the safety level of passengers at Arad International Airport, by complying with the Alfa taxiway to the regulatory requirements in the airport field, in the context of achieving the thematic objective of liop 2014-2020 by increasing connectivity, mobility and ensuring competitive services. Also, the achievement of the investment objective will have a positive impact on maintaining the existing Airport Operating Certificate, namely: • maintaining infrastructure and safety parameters at the operational level regulated by national, European and international civil aviation standards; • continuity of operation of airport infrastructure; • ensuring the existence of the Arad airport as a transport infrastructure part of the European TEN-T Core and Comprehensive network, the basis for regional connectivity in economic and social development. The project ‘Rebuild the Alfa Roadway (TWY A)’ is part of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis 2 – Developing a multimodal, quality, sustainable and efficient transport system, Investment Priority 7c – Developing and improving environmentally friendly, including low-carbon and low-carbon transport systems, including inland waterways and maritime transport systems, ports, multimodal links and airport infrastructures, with the aim of promoting sustainable mobility at regional and local level, Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for the development of airport infrastructure – new investment projects targeting non-economic safety and security activities. The investments under the project shall respond to the following eligible actions under OS 2.3: A. New investment projects in airport infrastructure aimed at the construction/extension/modernisation of terminals, namely rehabilitation-modernisation/extension of movement surfaces (tracks, taxiways, platforms, etc.), accompanied by environmental protection measures •Rehabilitation/modernisation/extension of movement surfaces (tracks, taxiways, platforms, etc.); •Installations related to airport infrastructure (balancing, lighting systems, etc.). By making these types of investments Arad Airport will comply with the latest requirements of the aeronautical regulations. Thus, the project “Refacere Route Alfa (TWY A)” contributes to the following programme indicator for Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for the development of airport infrastructure – new investment projects: • 2S17 Modernised Airports.
