The implementation of this investment project aims to promote investments in the field of water and waste water and aims to reduce the commitments deriving from the European Directives on waste water treatment (91/271/EEC) and the quality of water intended for human consumption (Directive 98/83/EC). The project aims to implement digitalisation measures at the level of the water operator in order to accelerate decisions to improve service quality while maintaining the main parameters at an optimal level for consumers. By developing the proposed project, we want to increase the level of smart metering in the county but also at the level of the entire distribution network of AQUABIS S.A.. By implementing this advanced system for monitoring the technical state of the network and smart metering, according to the specialised literature, reductions in water losses in the supply area (technical + commercial losses) can be achieved between 3.12 % and 30 % of the reference value. Considering the current high share of water losses in the analysed area, a reduction potential of at least 2 %/year is allowed. By reducing losses by 2 %/year, a quantified economy can be achieved in: − Avoided water losses: 111 145.78 m³/year; − Avoided electricity consumption: 35.57 MWh/year; − Environmental footprint avoided: 11.74 tonnes CO2 equivalent/year.
