Workshop Building in horticulture in Montsinéry-Tonnégrande

The rationale for the project In the peri-urban areas of our region, the agricultural land surrounding the city is gradually giving way to urbanisation leading to a high population densification in a short time, not compensated by landscaping that respects the peri-urban and rural environment; our proposed action is part of a global plan of sustainable territorial development, leading to the implementation of a set of projects aimed at facilitating access to a path of social and occupational inclusion of people in need, and thus combating precariousness, social disaffiliation of people and the development of delinquency in the area of action. Our tools. The IAE is almost the unnatural marriage between social action and the commercial economy. In addition to the dual technical competence required: the social and professional support of people in difficulty on the one hand and the technical supervision for the horticulture professions on the other hand, is added to the current weak structuring of the local horticultural sector, a factor that risks complicating our integration somewhat as well as the legibility and short-term impact of our action. Horticulture is a branch of agriculture that brings together three categories of companies working in: — plant production, – distribution and sale, – landscape works. These develop seven types of economic activities: market gardening – arboriculture – ornamental horticulture – floriculture – nursery – serriculture and landscape work. Let us point out that our social action at the anchor point of participation, a contribution to the economic development of the territory of action. This strategic choice is linked to the idea that our public, the beneficiaries of the project, are wrongly or rightly reclaiming a dignity, from a favourable look on the part of the not excluded, which is the very closing of solidarity. However, the vision of social and professional integration in its conventional assertion needs to be broadened, because our current local economy operates on an unsustainable model, the use of the expression ‘social and occupational inclusion’ instead of ‘integration’ introduces a nuance which, beyond the semantic debate, echoes these points. Consequently, the proposed scheme must, in its accompanying measures, fully contribute to the work of parenting and environmental and citizenship education both at the level of the beneficiaries and their relatives. In this project, horticulture is not only a medium of activity and an economic opportunity, it is a real mediator for the beneficiaries who, on the basis of their reconstruction, will be part of a system acting positively and on a daily basis in the territory. They will therefore be able to count on the growing public acquired in gardening and sensitive to the values of sustainable development. Project description In the medium term, the project carried out by AMCAP aims to develop activity and create wealth and employment in the target territory. To do this, we have chosen the horticultural production chain. It has the advantage of offering a wide variety of business practices. The combination of several years of experience in social support and the analysis of the current context of our target territory, namely Montsinéry-Tonnégrande and Macouria, allowed us to develop an action strategy for the implementation and development of our project. The validation in June 2018 of our project by the municipal council of the municipality of Montsinéry-Tonnégrande gave us a sufficient basis to guaranty our ambitions. The integration projects that we want to set up are the cornerstones of our action because they aim to train horticultural workers in sufficient numbers, to allow us to install our own production infrastructure and to create a showcase of our know-how. However, our action is not limited to the implementation of ACI but rather an assembly of SIAE and other complementary elements in order to ensure the sustainability of our actions. The choice of the horticultural sector is linked to the technical skills we have and is also currently a great economic opportunity given the increasing number of people wishing to access a healthy diet. We are also part of the search for innovative solutions to better produce, better beautify, and better preserve our environment and thus contribute to a better living in our target territory.
