The various operations focus on sustainably restoring a salmon population that must strive for self-sufficiency. Since the species has completely disappeared from the basin, its restoration inevitably passes through restocking operations. The success of these operations is monitored through genetic monitoring of returnees and flocks of fish spawners. The release of juveniles of nearly 500000 individuals per year, from the Bergerac and Castels fish farms, must allow the return of several hundred spawners who will naturally reproduce in the favourable habitats of the rivers upstream of the Dordogne basin.
