In July 2016, the Greater Poitiers agglomeration community took over the competence of heating networks and deliberated on the need to expand its network to cover additional heat needs estimated at 48 000 MWh per year to existing and future consumers located in the eastern and southern districts of the city of Poitiers via a public service delegation contract. This project, which includes the installation of an additional 4.5 MW biomass boiler plant using straw fuel, is part of the objectives set out in Law No. 2015-992 of 17 August 2015 on the energy transition for green growth and meets the horizontal principles of sustainable development and equal opportunities.
