Type of equipment requested: Upgrade of the atomic probe of the GENESIS platform for the analysis of radioactive materials Purchased as part of the 2011 EQUIPEX GENESIS, the LEAP 4000X HR today presents limited performance compared to those of the new generation, the LEAP 5000 XR. The objective of this project is to evolve the LEAP 4000 XHR to LEAP 5000 XR. The principle of operation of a LEAP instrument is mainly based on 3 nested instrumental physics concepts dedicated to the control of the evaporation of surface atoms of a sample of matter, the control of the ionic trajectories of the atoms after evaporation and the detection of these atoms in order to quantify and identify them with the greatest precision. The upgrade of the LEAP 4000X HR to LEAP 5000 XR involves a structural modification of all the physical, mechanical, electronic and computer devices associated with the operation of these 3 concepts and incorporates a plasma cleaning system of samples and devices used to control the evaporation of surface atoms.
