PEB Future Workshop Crafts

A project under ESF Instrument 13 “PEB – Innovative Model Projects” will be funded. The purpose is the model testing of new approaches to action in the districts. The model project to be funded aims to qualify people who have difficulties in the labour market due to low vocational knowledge of German. The aim is to reduce fears among the participants and to inspire them for artisanal professions. The focus is on air conditioning, heating and plumbing, as well as painters and varnishers. These trades represent a large group of trades requiring approval in the field of expansion in Steglitz-Zehlendorf. These trades in particular are already feeling bottlenecks in securing youngsters. In cooperation with the Berlin Provincial Association of Entrepreneurs in Crafts, the Painters and Painters’ Association of Berlin, the sanitary, heating and plumber/climate inn Berlin as well as the Berlin Chamber of Crafts, a focus is placed on these trades. If necessary, it is also conceivable to extend the focus to other trades such as electrical engineering, building cleaning or hairdressing. The participants go through a multi-stage process in the “Zukunftswerkstatt Handwerk” with a focus on two areas. In the first part, the focus is on vocational language acquisition. Based on this, the transition to practice takes place in the second part. The “Zukunftswerkstatt Handwerk” consists of a total of five individual modules. These are offered several times over the duration of the project. This allows participants to enter the program flexibly. For successful participation, participants must have participated in all modules. The modules are described below:_x000D_ Module 1: As part of regular welcome workshops, participants get to know the project team and the cooperation partners._x000D_ Module 2: participants acquire job-specific competences in the course of four weeks of workshops. The workshop contents aim at conveying basic technical terms and common speeches, but also address workplace-specific topics – such as safety and behaviour in the workplace, or self-expression in the profession. These topics are dealt with in a total of 48 lessons. In addition, the introduction of the digital language learning app “Sprich Handwerk” will also take place in these workshops. The app is developed by the cooperation partner of the wortlaut-Sprachwerkstatt through the professional expertise. With the help of the language learning app, participants are introduced playfully to the professional vocabulary and the necessary basic language skills of trades. The combination of the presence workshops and the app is part of a blended learning concept that combines e-learning formats with face-to-face events._x000D_ Module 3: A virtual construction site tour follows the four-week face-to-face workshops on job-specific language acquisition. In workshops, participants experience the professional life of a painter or plant mechanic for heating, air conditioning and sanitary technology at six to ten stations. The presentation of everyday work takes place using virtual reality technology (VR) and 360-degree videos. As a result, the participants can better put themselves in the location of the video recording and the activities depicted there. These videos are produced as part of the project by SchulePLUS. The videos will show craft companies in Steglitz-Zehlendorf. In addition, they test key activities of these professions at practice stations.._x000D_ Module 4: The practical module follows the virtual construction site tour. As part of a two to four-month internship in a craft company, the participants get a real insight into everyday professional life. With the support of the painting and paint shop and the sanitary, heating and plumbing/climate inn, the participants are brought together by a matching in conjunction with different craft companies from the district._x000D_ Module 5: The & “Future Workshop Crafts” closes with a meeting of craftsmen from Steglitz-Zehlendorf as part of a “speed dating”. In addition to craft companies, the cooperation partners such as the Innungen, the Chamber of Crafts and the Berlin Provincial Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Crafts will take part in this event._x000D_ Quamtitative target indicators of the project are: _x000D_ 1. Achievement of at least 44 participants_x000D_ 2. Complete creation of 3 videos in 360-degree technology (including post-production)_x000D_ 3. Development of the beta version of the learning app “Speak Crafts”; to the first application_x000D_
