The PILOT-STADTWERK is the first of the “creative municipal utilities” which will be developed over the period of several years in Berlin. The new Stadtwerke are artistic construction sites as well as places of learning and encounters for social commitment. They are designed to help build up a lack of everyday structures and meaningful work for vulnerable, isolated young people from refugee and migrant circles, while at the same time activating disadvantaged people from the neighbourhood. _x000D_ in the project will work various young teams, refugees and migrants, gardeners, craftsmen and social workers as well as actors from the neighbourhood at the Hellersdorf estate. The participants are to set up an open gardening and workshop area with experimental design and low-tech workshops. This is where various hands-on activities and qualification offers will start. The project aims at gradual qualification, professional orientation, social integration and the gain in community and personality development of the participants. In the interplay of art, craftsmanship and design as well as in the gardening work, the participants learn to build a self-responsible daily work and to organise the STADTWERK operation in a team. German lessons, coaching and communication training, as well as various professional-oriented workshops frame the workshops’ times. Participants are continuously supported professionally and socially. They are increasingly taking on responsibility in the STADTWERK, they are experimenting and becoming strong in the team, testing volunteering as co-leaders and practicing in small project management. _x000D_ the participants of the project are divided into different focus groups. In addition to young isolated refugees, their friends, colleagues and relatives from the immediate neighbourhood are also addressed. During the summer holidays, the creative summer school will take place on the premises. Social workers, coaches, landscape gardeners and artists develop workshops for young adults who have not yet made concrete career decisions and have not found follow-up training. As part of the project, a new network of socially engaged women will also be set up, who in the future will also become active as partners for Berlin Streetwork and could accompany unstable young people as volunteer community assistants. After the end of the project, the participants will be involved in a further alumni program. _x000D_
