On the basis of the “Landing Strategy for Practical Vocational Orientation in Thuringia” and the ESF School Promotion Directive, out-of-company and company practice days are offered and carried out for pupils with severe disabilities. We implement the measure in the period from 1.3.2018 to 31.7.2020 in accordance with the contents of the present overall concept. The measure comprises a total of 270 hours of time per pupil, usually spread over 3 school years. Practice days take place on one day a week. A practice day usually lasts 6 hours. At the educational institution, a maximum of 180 hours of time (maximum 30 days of practice) are available, which are carried out in different occupational fields. During the company practice days, participants are supervised by a social pedagogue of the educational institution. Action sequence and planning (e.g. number and distribution of practical days) are individually coordinated for each student. Offered occupational fields – Metal, Mechanical Engineering – Wood and Paper – Transport, Logistics and Transport – Construction, Surveying, Architecture – Personal Care/Housekeeping – Textiles, Clothing, Leather Participants The measure is aimed at students with special educational needs in the following areas: mental development, physical and motor development, hearing and seeing. At the beginning of the measure, the pupils must have a recognised severe disability or equality within the framework of the special provision of § 68(4) SGB IX for the duration of the measure. In the school year 2017/18 4 pupils from 2 Jena schools as well as one student from the Saale-Holzland-Kreis take part in the measure in the ÜAG gGmbH – the State Community School “Kaleidoskop Jena”, the Free All-day School “Leonardo” (community school, Staatsl. recognised replacement school) and the State Regional Support Centre Hainspitz. Practical experience at the educational institution as well as practical experience in the company are planned. In the 2018/19 school year, 8 TN from 5 schools participate (Leonardo, Kaleidoscope, Kulturanum, Montessori and Jenaplan). The objective of the measure is the individual preparation and accompaniment of the transition of pupils with severe disabilities from school to the world of work. The aim is to identify barriers to participation at an early stage and to reduce them in a targeted manner. The development of key labour and life-relevant competences, including career choice skills, aims to strengthen employment and vocational training skills. In practical experience in various occupational fields, students recognise their interests and inclinations, talents and skills and at the same time develop important work-relevant social, personal, factual and methodological skills. It is about establishing and developing partnerships, cooperations and networks of all actors in a sustainable way, which accompany young people in the implementation of their personal career plans and thus promote their entry into the world of work, employment or vocational qualification.
