The municipality of Teningen has been performing its role model for the environment and climate for over 20 years. It was one of the first municipalities of Baden-Württemberg to be EMAS-certified and continues the extensive catalogue of measures annually. This also includes the initiative to build a heating network for Teningen-Oberdorf. The municipal company Nahwärme-Versorgung Teningen GmbH was founded and a renovation manager was hired with the aim of implementing climate protection measures exemplary. In the urban-structured Oberdorf, the connection potential to local heat is very high. In addition, waste heat potentials exist from existing biogas and wood chipping plants and in the medium term from industrial production. With a target connection rate of around 70 %, over 3.700 tonnes of CO2 per year will be saved in the long term. The municipality of Teningen offers its customers a price stable heat supply and thus achieves above-average contributions to ecology.
