The aim of the project is to further develop the existing 17 km long Emscherweg between the surrounding towns into an Emscher promenade and to upgrade the adjacent open spaces with a view of the Emscher in terms of a park with a high quality of stay and to connect it to the urban development environment. The aim is to create an axis on the river, where many places for natural experiences, nature enthusiasm and environmental education should bring together the population and encourage them to participate.
