The city of Neustadt in Holstein has about 15.000 inhabitants. The project of sustainable energy and heat supply envisages fully supplying the settlements of Mühlenberg Nord with heat via a local heating network. For supply in the current supply area, 37 heat consumers are to be supplied with connection capacities of up to 126 kW and a peak load of about 1.6 MWth. These are mainly new residential buildings with a building standard according to KfW 55 (investor), as well as a kindergarten (stock) and a daycare centre (new building). For the heat supply of KfW 55 buildings, a primary energy factor of a maximum of 0.3 is required in the heating network. The local heating network with a total length of 2.13 km is to be built in 3 construction phases by 2023. 70 % of the useful heat demand of 2.550 MWh is met by renewable energy sources and the use of cogeneration. A 25 m³ buffer tank is used to smooth the load paths. The peak demand of 30 % of the total heat demand is provided by a peak load and redundancy boiler system.
