Development of the airport infrastructure of Iasi Airport - Extract from the Feasibility Study - Garage Equipment and Platform in order to achieve: Platform Remiza PSI and road handling

Iasi International Airport is located in the vicinity of Iasi (Romania), at a distance of about 8 km northeast of the city center. Iasi Airport is one of the oldest accredited airports in Romania. Iasi Airport is located in the north-eastern part of Iasi, and currently the only road access to the airport is through the Airport road, which in turn detaches from the Ciric road. Iasi Airport is considered of strategic national interest and ensures the opening of the eastern part of the country and is the third regional airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic. It is located on the Central Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T CORE), regulated by Regulations (EU) 1316/2013 & 1315/2013 and which aims to create a complete transport network between Member States, at common standards. This objective has also been transposed into the national transport strategy, defined by the General Transport Master Plan, and aims to facilitate the movement of people and goods between EU Member States and those adjacent to the Western Border. In these terms, the overall objective of the project is the modernization and development of Iasi airport in order to increase efficiency and attractiveness for users, in the context of efficient connection to community and international airport traffic points, by: • Increasing the operating capacity (infrastructure and facilities) to meet the demand at the horizon 2030, by creating a platform and a service road (handling), to ensure the optimal operating and safety conditions, the traffic intended for service equipment , including fuel trucks, maintenance trucks and PSI. The current platform and handling road, used for the transit of service equipment to the movement surfaces, does not comply with the aeronautical rules on ensuring the safety of aircraft in the area of airport operations. The platform that provides access to emergency intervention equipment P.S.I., handling equipment and snow machines, is currently made up of cement concrete clothing in an advanced state of degradation and soil contaminated gravel, without proper systematization, which affects the efficient take-up and drainage of rainwater. Rainwater accumulated as a result of precipitation stagnates on the surface of the platform causing obstruction of P.S.I. special vehicles in case of intervention, as well as contamination of the movement surfaces with mud and gravel detached from the tyres of the service equipment, which is prohibited by the aeronautical rules RACR-AD-IADC, Ed.2/2016-arrangement, use and registration of civil and DA aerodromes: 4/22.05.2012 – administration of the platform. This project contributes to the achievement of the main
