The overall objective of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy independence in the city of Deta, Timis County, by creating a centralized system for the production and distribution of thermal energy, using renewable geothermal energy sources in order to ensure its own consumption in public buildings. Following the implementation of this project, renewable energy sources, namely geothermal energy, will be used to heat the building of the Deta City Hospital and the ‘Saint Nicholas’ Technological Lyceum. This will reduce CO2 emissions within the locality and increase the degree of energy ineptitude, given the replacement of conventional energy sources. At the same time, a reduction in heating costs is expected. The present project aims to achieve a system of production and supply of thermal energy in a centralized system, using less exploited renewable energy sources, respectively geothermal energy by capitalizing on the geothermal water resources in the Deta city. The project involves: - Making a geothermal water extraction drilling and a geothermal wastewater injection drilling - Making a building with the function of thermal power plant, equipment with machinery and technological equipment - Making a thermal energy distribution network - Making a pipeline for transporting geothermal wastewater to the injection drilling - Making connections to consumers - Making connections to consumers, up to the point of delimitation with the consumer The project contributes to Specific Objective 11.2 by: - increasing the level of energy independence of the ATU City of Deta by obtaining energy from renewable sources for its own consumption; - the increase in the share of renewable energy in total primary energy consumption, as a result of investments to increase the installed power of producing electricity and heat from renewable sources; - reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere by replacing part of the amount of fossil fuels consumed each year; - a more resource-efficient, greener and more competitive economy, leading to sustainable development based, inter alia, on a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment; - the contribution of the City of Deta to the achievement of the European Union targets for the production of energy from renewable sources set out in Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. Considering that the project will create a new capacity to produce energy from renewable sources, the project contributes to result indicator 2S145 - Primary production of energy from renewable sources and to achieving the LIOP targets. After the implementation of the project
