The overall objective of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy independence at the level of Copalnic-Mănăștur Commune, Maramureș County, by developing 14 new photovoltaic installations to cover the own consumption of buildings and a new photovoltaic park to cover the own consumption of public lighting using renewable solar energy sources. Following the implementation of this project, renewable energy sources, namely solar energy, will be used to ensure energy independence for the headquarters of the City Hall in Copalnic-Mănăștur, the cultural hostels in Copalnic-Mănăștur, Berința, Vad and Cărpiniș, the schools in Copalnic-Mănăștur, Berința, Făurești, Lăschia and Preluca Veche, the sports hall in Copalnic-Mănăștur and the public lighting in Copalnic-Mănăștur, Berința, Cărpiniș, Copalnic, Copalnic Deal, Curtuiușu Mic, Făurești, Lăschia, Preluca Nouă, Preluca Veche, Rușor and Vad. This will reduce CO2 emissions within the commune and will increase the degree of energy ineptitude, taking into account the replacement of conventional energy sources. The present project aims to create a system of electricity production for own consumption, using renewable sources of solar energy from the Copalnic-Mănăștur commune, Maramureș County. The project contributes to Specific Objective 11.2 by: - increasing the level of energy independence of ATU Copalnic-Mănăștur Commune, Maramureș County by obtaining energy from renewable sources for its own consumption; - the increase in the share of renewable energy in total primary energy consumption, as a result of investments to increase the installed power of producing electricity from renewable sources; - reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere by replacing part of the electricity consumed each year; - a more resource-efficient, greener and more competitive economy, leading to sustainable development based, inter alia, on a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment; - the contribution of Copalnic-Mănăștur Commune, Maramureș County to the achievement of the European Union targets for the production of energy from renewable sources set out in Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. Considering that the project will create a new capacity to produce energy from renewable sources, the project contributes to result indicator 2S145 - Primary production of energy from renewable sources and to achieving the LIOP targets. After the implementation of the project, a large part of the electricity required at the commune level will be produced locally, using renewable energy sources and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
