The extension of the wide gauge railway line will lead to an increase in the operational capacity of the Port of Galati by reducing the loading/unloading times of the wide gauge freight wagons. The project will not lead to additional traffic, the traffic anyway exceeding the existing capacity due to the conflict in Ukraine. Traffic attracted by the project could be visible from 2027, after the end of the conflict and the restoration of operating conditions in Ukrainian ports. However, it is based on the premise that traffic will increase regardless of the implementation of the project and that the infrastructure developed within it will only lead to increased efficiency in serving traffic.
