The overall objective of the project is: Improving the waste management infrastructure and implicitly the quality of the environment in Sibiu County by extending the separate collection within SMID Sibiu, in order to meet the objectives related to increasing the share of recycled / recovered waste in the total amount of waste collected and reducing the amount of waste landfilled. The project is relevant for the specific objective 3.1 of the LIOP because it promotes investments in the waste sector in order to comply with the provisions of the European acquis and the commitments undertaken by the environmental sector. Thus, the project contributes to the achievement of result indicators - 2S26 "Recycling rate of household and similar waste". Strategic Objective 3.1. The reduction of the number of non-compliant landfills and the increase of the level of waste preparation for recycling in Romania were provided for a series of indicators that will be achieved through the investments to be made within the project. Physical indicators: - 144,701 receptacles for the separate collection of recyclable household waste with identification and monitoring elements for waste quantities; - 53,392 receptacles for the collection of residual waste with identification and monitoring elements for the quantities of waste; - 38,940 containers for the collection of bio-waste equipped with identification and monitoring elements for the quantities of waste; - 412 containers for the collection of textiles with elements for identifying and monitoring the quantities of waste; Through these indicators, the project will contribute to achieving the objectives of the LIOP and compliance with European directives. The implementation of the project, the extension of the separate collection system, will have an impact and contribute to the socio-economic development of the area by: - in economic terms: creation of new jobs; stimulating investment in the treatment and recycling of separately collected waste; attracting new investors in various sectors of activity, with an improved, optimised waste management infrastructure; - socially: raising the standard of living and the standard of living of the population; increasing the level of information and awareness of the population about the importance of selective waste collection; ensuring better living conditions through a modern waste management infrastructure, in line with the legislative requirements in the field, with a positive impact on the health of the population. The project will also have an environmental impact, ensuring compliance with the principles of sustainable development: increasing the quality of the environment by extending the separate collection system at county level; contribution to achieving the recycling rate of household and similar waste out of the total recyclable waste generated; increasing the recycling rate of municipal waste
