The project for the modernization of the port infrastructure, in the context of the development of the multimodal platform Galati, has as main objective the attraction of new cargo flows in the Port of Galati, the increase of efficiency in the operation of the port infrastructure, the increase of safety and, implicitly, the increase of the attractiveness of the waterborne transport, through the port facilities offered. The project will increase traffic in the Port of Galati by approximately 300,000 tonnes in the first year of operation (20,000 TEU), in the first year of operation (2024), and also reduce loading/unloading times and increase the safety of port operations. In order to achieve these objectives, the project involves the following works: - Works for the arrangement of vertical quays made of metal sheet piles on a length of 868 m (transformation from pereat quay into vertical quay in the area of current berths 42-47) and the creation of an additional port territory of 30,051 sqm; after the completion of the works, 4 berths with a length of approximately 150 m and a berth with a length of 180 m will be arranged. - Works for the supply of water to ships - Works for the supply of electricity to ships
