The Charleroi project aims to respond to two priority axes to support families and foster the care of children in poverty. Childcare is a priority for the City with very high funding. On the ground, the needs are increasingly important and diverse, but the City cannot go beyond that. 1. The change in school rhythm, as of the start of the 2022 school year, has a significant impact on single-parent families and families in socio-economic precariousness. The periods of care during short leave are split up, which automatically entails an obligation to take children into care in a community. This care must meet the needs of families in the context of reconciling family and professional life, but must in no way exclude vulnerable families. 2. Inclusive schooling is an opportunity for many children to return to mainstream schools. While many initiatives are taken in schools to support educational teams (training, creation of tools, partnerships), nothing is envisaged for the extracurricular sector. This is a real challenge.
