At UMONS, diagnostic tests and positioning activities are offered, in person or via the Moodle platform. They allow students to become aware of their level and to face academic requirements. It is necessary to provide feedback to students and to propose corrective actions. The scale of these measures in their design and implementation leads us to think about transversal and specific measures to rationalise measures. The ESF project therefore aims to work on a common basic programme, on transversal skills (numeracy - processing of information, comparison of data, use of graphs; proficiency in the language of communication; academic approach - rigor, work, critical thinking), and on expected disciplinary skills, common to several courses, contextualized by teachers. Systematising these activities will make it possible to redirect students in difficulty to existing success support actions and to propose targeted remedies, in order to reduce the number of failures at the end of the first year.
