The aim of the ‘Giving credit to lifelong learning’ project at the Université libre de Bruxelles is to provide academic recognition for short, agile and innovative training courses in the form of micro-credentials (less than 10 credits) in the fields of health, humanities and science and technology. This project will also test the added value of this new pedagogical formula for targeted audiences (students and workers) in order to increase their skills and employability, and allow them to value these programmes in a lifelong portfolio. The project builds on the European Commission’s 2021 report “A European approach to micro-credentials: output of the micro-credentials higher education consultation group: final carry-over". The subject is on the agenda of the Continuing Education Commission (COFOC) of the Academy of Research and Higher Education (ARES) for 2023 and the project is closely linked to its work.
