Since 2009, conversion units have been operating in difficult and changing contexts linked to different economic crises. Since March 2020, the context linked to the COVID-19 health crisis and, more recently, the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine have been added. The main objective of the project is to develop the qualification and support the retraining of collectively dismissed workers. The project aims to strengthen the intervention capacity of Forem and the trade union partners CEPAG and Réso asbl in the context of the Retraining Units in order to improve the support and follow-up of workers. This project integrates a context of increase in the number of collective redundancies and bankruptcies linked to various elements such as economic transformations, the impacts of the COVID 19 health crisis, the impacts of the floods of July 2021 in the disaster-stricken regions of Wallonia and the development of new forms of work resulting in the disappearance of certain jobs. The project also emphasises the importance of developing lifelong learning actions that play a role in facilitating professional integration.
