European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) - COMMUNE DE COUËRON - Rehabilitation and extension of the tennis/padel hall - Complexe René Gaudin

The project presented by the commune of Couëron consists in transforming the Claudette-Fontenay tennis hall located on the René Gaudin sports complex. This hall, created in 1983, will become the first padel tennis hall built by a city within the Nantes metropolis. The aim is to rehabilitate and expand the existing hall to make it an innovative and ambitious sports facility combining tennis and padel activities on a surface area of 3 280 m2, which will include: • 3 covered tennis courts (an additional covered tennis court thanks to the project); • 3 covered padel courts (new); • 1 club house of 80 m2 overlooking the courts (new); • changing rooms and toilets (new). Thus, the European funding will contribute to the construction of new spaces but also to the renovation of the existing room including two tennis courts. When it reopens after the works, the hall will continue to welcome schoolchildren and members of the Tennis Padel Club Couëronnais. This operation meets the objectives of action 5.1.1 ‘Approche territoires ITI’ by promoting sport, which plays an essential role in the social dynamism and cohesion of a territory. Sports equipment is part of the eligible expenditure indicated in the DOMO. In view of all the above, a favourable opinion is proposed for ERDF support of EUR 258 000.00.
