ZAC Republic called operation "Cournon Coeur de Ville"

The "Cournon Coeur de Ville" project is an urban development project in Cournon-d'Auvergne. The current Place Joseph-Gardet and its surroundings are, today, mainly reduced to a road transit axis from the eastern territories of Billomois to the Clermont-Ferrand metropolis. Commercial activity is losing momentum and requires a renewal of the offer adapted to the expectations of users and a lever of attractiveness for the sector: catering activities, food shops and destination shops (concept-stores type). Thus, the Zone d'Aménagement Concerté (ZAC) République, known as the "Cournon Coeur de Ville" operation, aims, in connection with the arrival of the high-level bus line (BHNS), to create a centrality identified around a major public space, symbol of the redefinition of the image of the city, and to play a role of gateway to the historic and commercial town. The overall operation carried out by Cournon d’Auvergne covers 14 sectors in the heart of the city (25 910 m2), but the ERDF operation focuses on three sectors: - Sector 1: Place de la République (6 659 m2) – Sector 9: Jardin Cornonet (3 006 m2) – Sector 13: Court of the Alambic (768 m2)
