Development of BEAUNE Circular Boulevard (phase 1 and 2)

The city of Beaune has been developing, for several years, on its territory, safe routes for gentle and environmentally friendly modes of travel. The circular boulevard of Beaune is the structuring axis of the municipality. It is an old departmental composed of 2 or 3 lanes whose circulation is one-way. It serves all neighborhoods from the intra muros center. In the continuity of this virtuous development, the city develops a secure path on the boulevard to facilitate the movement of active modes, cycles and pedestrians. The objective is to separate road traffic cycles and bring them closer to pedestrian mails by creating a separate bicycle path and pedestrian path or, when the right-of-way of the cross-section is reduced, a shared lane. In parallel, parking spaces for thermal vehicles are reduced in the city center. Roads reserved for vehicles will also be reduced in favour of pedestrian paths and cycles. This project also makes it possible to reduce the speed of vehicles, to develop the greenery and the islets of freshness around the historic center. Finally, the tourist attraction is also to be taken into consideration. The improvements made will make it possible to privilege views of the site of the ramparts surrounding the center.
