As part of the Antilles Earthquake Plan, the municipality of Lamentin is building the Caillou school group, which will replace 11 classes of Castel and 9 classes of Vincent. This will allow to benefit from 3 additional classes compared to the current situation. That is to say, 23 classes which will include: 9 kindergarten classes, and 14 elementary classes. In addition, the structure was the subject, following the earthquake of November 2004 to a diagnosis of the State. It follows from his report that the building, which is more than 60 years old, is very dangerous. Indeed, the report, unlike the other school groups in the territory, advocates not its consolidation, but a new construction. It was detected there: - cracks on the load-bearing walls - a strong instability of the foundations hence a weakness of the building in case of a major earthquake. In view of all these elements and in order to respond to this primary concern, the construction of schools in Caillou that can accommodate both kindergartens and primary schools is necessary.
