The Marina at the bottom of the fort continues its transformation and extension operation with a final phase which is the subject of this application for ERDF aid. This project was supported on OP 14/20 for the first phase, which proved useful to remedy the obsolescence of this marina, which is one of the most important in the Caribbean, being the first destination for yachting and for hosting the most mythical sailing race, the Route du Rhum. The impact of this initial support has been reflected in a high number of visitors, particularly to new services linked to nautical activity (an increase of 40% in boating permits), the increase in requests for ship repair and the maintenance of 1,200 jobs throughout the area. This last phase aims to continue the homogeneous development of the two maritime and land areas to promote a continuous flow between them. The action plan will include the relocation of the Capitainerie and its construction in a more protected area, the conversion of 8 wharves and the extension of 3 wharves, as well as the work to beautify the banks and accessibility areas and the protection of the environment around the site. The total submitted cost of the project was €5,780,28.47 for an eligible cost of €5,463,553.76. Of this total eligible cost, the ERDF proposal is EUR 3 004 954.56 (55%), studies -50% and 50% structural work. The bearer intervenes to the tune of € 2,458,599.20.
