Study of material recovery of excavated land and sediments in Hauts-de-France

Ambitions to preserve the environment include the recovery of waste. In France, nearly 70% of waste comes from construction sites and consists of mineral materials similar to those used in the same sector for development and construction. Their recovery, in line with regulatory objectives, would reduce the landfilling of this waste and avoid the extraction of natural resources. The objective of the project is to validate the use of excavated land and sediment-type materials in eco-materials and eco-products through research and innovation. This project is based on two major cogs, oriented towards industry and operational. The characterization phase determines the properties of the materials in order to direct each material studied to the most relevant sectors. The formulation phase then validates from a technical and environmental point of view the eco-materials and eco-products designed with excavated materials representative of the territory. The wide dissemination of the results of this study should then benefit the major infrastructure projects of the territory such as the project of the Canal Seine Nord or that of the Mise au Gabarit Européen de l'Oise. The implementation of the approach at the level of territorial projects will strengthen the credibility of the approach with actors of the valorisation of the material of the territory.
