The challenges raised by Valenciennes Métropole for the requalification of the avenues from Verdun to Valenciennes and Henri Barbusse to Marly are to highlight the entry of cities, organize the legibility of the different accesses and strongly encourage the use of soft modes. This project therefore consists of: - promote the multimodal share of soft-mode travel by creating a 3-metre-wide bidirectional cycle path, separated from pedestrian and vehicle spaces. - securing users by reducing the speed of traffic on the avenues, by developing safe and up-to-date sidewalks and bus docks - greening a low-vegetation avenue - regaining the legibility and prioritization of public spaces in a context of an aging street, wide and not adapted to the daily life of users. This 1,130-metre cycle route is part of the SR3V, the structuring network of the Schéma Départemental and one of the structuring routes of the Valenciennes Métropole Bike Plan adopted by the Community Council on 27 June 2023.
