As part of the implementation of its network of greenways, northeast of the Metropolis, the "Ferrain" greenway project aims to develop in the municipalities of Tourcoing, Mouvaux, Roncq and Halluin 11 km of the old railway connecting originally Halluin to Somain. In terms of connection and closure, it must connect at its ends two existing greenways: that of the Roubaix Canal (also traced by the Eurovélo5) and the Val de Lys. The objective is to significantly improve the network and in particular to allow closure with the Deûle greenway. Throughout its history, the implementation of the road is remarkable. It alternates passages in the heart of agglomeration or cities (in particular Tourcoing/Mouvaux and Halluin) or relatively preserved peri-urban countryside. The atmospheres are therefore very varied, sometimes urban, sometimes more bucolic and quiet... The project also stands out for its scale and the preservation of its continuity. With the exception of a road (RD191) built after the 80s at the entrance of Halluin which creates a real break, the land is very little interrupted, which will allow a comfortable, efficient and secure development. It is indeed very rare, in such urban contexts in constant change (many brownfields reconverted), to have a linear to develop as important and almost preserved.
