Europe must face the challenges of the ecological transition to limit global warming and increase energy autonomy. In this context, the decarbonisation of the building sector is a prerequisite for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, an objective set out in the European Union's long-term strategy, and for achieving energy independence. The heat pump (PAC) is one of the heating solutions with the lowest carbon impact, the CAP market is expected to be constantly increasing. With a reduced energy intake, the PACs are able to produce heat essential to the well-being of the inhabitants. In order to make this equipment more affordable and accelerate their deployment, PACS manufacturers are mainly focused on improving energy efficiency, at the expense of sustainable development and durability of the equipment. The strategy of the ECOPAD project differs from the competitors' strategy by focusing on the development of circular economy principles for a new generation of more efficient and sustainable CAPs.
