The transport sector accounts for 40% of greenhouse gas emissions and 25% of energy consumption in the territory, making it a priority to achieve the objectives of the Climate-Air-Territorial Energy Plan (PCAET). The European metropolis has been engaged for many years in a roadmap for mobility, aiming at a significant evolution of modes of travel towards public transport and active modes. As part of the bus plan, the creation of line 12 in High Level Bus Service (BHNS), called LIANE 5, is a concrete example of this, gradually becoming the most used line in the network. Stretching 15.42 km from Hauboudin to Marq-en-Baroeul, LIANE 5 is an essential infrastructure. The completion of phase 2 of the project is a crucial step for its development, offering an even more efficient public transport offer, while encouraging modal shift and ensuring the safety of users. The development works on boulevards Pasteur and Coubertin as well as on rue Molinel in Lille remain a major challenge to ensure calm local traffic in the face of an increasing densification of road traffic.
