The Digital Pathology project consists of the digitization of images for Pathological Anatomy and Cytology. It is a technological revolution comparable to that experienced by radiology that has gone from reading on a negotoscope to reading on a computer screen. By resolutely engaging in this innovative approach to diagnosis in Pathology, the benefit concerns all patients and clinicians in the Hauts-de-France Region. But the Digital Pathology project at Lille University Hospital is also the first milestone in a territorial strategy of innovation, development and attractiveness for the pathology departments of hospitals in the Upper Region of France. This issue is identified as a priority for the next three years by all pathologists in these different hospitals. The capacity of Pathological Anatomy services in the region to digitize their files will help structure, strengthen and streamline this recourse and expertise activity. The implementation and success of the digital pathology project, at the University Hospital of Lille and then at the territorial level, raises important issues for the quality of care, training and the deployment of effective research at the international level.
