ARIANES aims to equip neurology research teams with the means to stay at the forefront of research, and to better treat you tomorrow. The Tesla 7 MRI (7 T) is a significantly more powerful MRI than the MRIs commonly used in care, most often less than 1 Tesla. The installation of a 7 T MRI at Lille University Hospital will allow neuroscience researchers to define new markers on cohorts of patients with neurological and mental pathologies. This is a major advance for the study of brain structure and metabolism. The study of previously inaccessible small structures will now be possible, and improved resolution will allow quantification of new metabolites. In addition, the increased power of 7T functional MRI will make it possible to move from the simple mapping of functional systems to the global integration of the multiple temporal and spatial connections that underlie brain activity. This 7T MRI will promote the development of translational research, between basic and clinical research, to more accurately measure the effectiveness of new drugs to treat patients with mental illnesses. For the acquisition of this very expensive equipment, the Lille CHRU benefits from the support of the French State, the Hauts-de-France Region and the Lille European Metropolis.
