The European metropolis of Lille has been implementing a structured cycling policy for many years but wishes to go even further to become a real "cycling metropolis" as part of a complete "bicycle ecosystem". Increasing the comfort and safety of cyclists and pedestrians is a priority to achieve the objectives of increasing soft mode travel and ensuring better intermodality between active modes of travel. The Boulevard Carnot, a busy gateway to the city center, supports dense traffic connecting various poles generating flows. The realization of the soft mode development works on the second section, located between the rue des Canonniers and the plot of the memorial monument of Louise de Bettignies, as well as the requalification of the rue des Urbanistes and the renovation of the bike path from the Grand Boulevard to the Romarin crossroads in La Madeleine, is the second step to lift a cycling discontinuity and secure cycling and walking trips on this route of the bike+ network.
