Since 2010, the Communauté de communes Vallée de l'Hérault has owned the former abbey of Aniane/former penitentiary, occupying an area of 3.5 ha in the heart of the city. A multi-year project provides for the restoration of the entire space to revive this heritage through cultural, educational and economic activities. The restoration of the chapel is a first phase of this global project. It is a question of transforming this place into a room of cultural diffusion intended to receive performances of live performances and projections, to host conferences and colloquiums and to be a place of exhibition.
