Renovation of the Zoology Building of the University of Strasbourg

The objectives of the renovation project are based on two main axes: - Meet current standards in terms of welcoming audiences, mediation, presentation and conservation of collections and sustainable development; - To pursue an ambitious policy of developing a scientific culture for all based on scientific research, particularly in the fields of the environment and science and society relations. This implies a restructuring and an increase in the spaces accessible to the public. Thus, 2 600 m2 of useful space will be dedicated to the museum, including 2 000 m2 of exhibitions and 600 m2 of related space: reception, bookshop, media library, changing rooms, etc. The museum's exhibition spaces (approximately 2,000 m2 spread over 3 floors) will be structured around several exhibition spaces with different temporalities. The tour will alternate permanent, semi-permanent and temporary exhibitions, mediation, laboratory and resource spaces, in a spirit of conviviality and accessibility. The museum will include: - a permanent exhibition space; - three semi-permanent exhibition spaces that will evolve after 3 to 6 years of existence; - permanent areas dedicated to ‘totem animals’; - areas of orality to accommodate groups for short events; - an area specially designed for families with young children (- 6 years old); - a temporary exhibition space.
