Located in the locality of Saint-Léonard, 4 kilometres from Obernai town centre, the Domaine de la Léonardsau, its castle and its 9 ha park constitute a haven of calm and greenery at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. Developed between 1899 and 1929 by Baron Albert Louis de Dietrich and property of the City of Obernai since 1970, the castle and the park are included in the additional inventory of Historical Monuments. The City has undertaken, while respecting the identity and artistic interest of the place, the restoration of this remarkable heritage, an integral part of the local culture. The objective of the operation is to make it an attractive place of life, culture and tourism, accessible to the greatest number, inhabitants and visitors. The equipment will be integrated into the cooperation networks of regional and national cultural actors and will support the local cultural and event dynamics. The renovated castle will offer modular exhibition spaces, conferences, educational resource center... The former stables will be converted into a new single entrance door to the Domaine, and will include the necessary equipment for hosting associative and cultural events and outdoor activities. A parking area (cars, bicycles, mini-bus drop-off) will be created, facilitating the accessibility of visitors to the site. A light and permanent museography will present the estate and its heritage value.
