BALZAC ("oBservation Air cLimat Zone AgriCole")

Faced with air-climate-energy-health issues, environmental management by the agricultural profession remains complex and requires an objective and continuous diagnosis to identify synergies and antagonisms by taking into account this transversality air-climate. Currently, monitoring devices for regulatory air pollutants concern only the resolution of urban, industrial or residential/tertiary issues. However, agricultural issues are increasingly important and do not benefit from an equivalent diagnosis, a necessary element for the implementation of actions by the profession, to better identify at the territorial scale of levers of action in air-climate-energy challenges. On this basis, it is a question of setting up the first permanent station of reference observations relating to air and climate in an agricultural environment on the Grand Est (agglomeration of Châlons-en-Champagne). This station, whose exact location will be chosen in close consultation with the profession, will produce reliable and objective information on atmospheric compounds or greenhouse gases (GHGs) in a sustainable manner, all in connection with cultivation practices. This will make it possible to implement an environmental management adapted and useful to the profession and the territory. No station in the Grand Est region can measure such a wide range of gases and particles related to the agricultural sector.
