The awareness trail located in Brauvilliers will aim to "transport" hikers into the local heritage and nature. Discover the nature that is linked to the territory and the work of the stone while having access to an old quarry visitable by reservation. This major project was considered, shaped and the first actions took place in 2023 with the marking of the circuit and the installation of the signs that will make the awareness trail operational in 2024. First of all, awareness-raising work, many meetings in 2023 with local stakeholders were necessary to move forward with the project. Site visits and experience the territory was necessary to be as accurate as possible on this project. The municipality of Brauvilliers, the association of the Friends of the Stone and the CODECOM of the Portes de Meuse were the three drivers of this trail project. The objective of site animation is - among other things - to be able to use the N2000 areas to raise awareness among the general public and above all to create consultation with local stakeholders while preserving the integrity of protected areas. The annual counting of chiroptera, consultation with associations and state services and meetings with other Natura2000 animators have made it possible to restore meaning and interest to these natural areas, which were certainly frequented but were not highlighted.
