In 2017, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research launched an initiative to modernize ESR's digital infrastructure. One of the main measures was the labeling of regional data centers, state-of-the-art both in terms of security and energy, and offering shared digital services across the region. The CPER GENI, in the field of intensive computing, is part of this framework with the local projects ROMEO-IRCIA for GENI, EXPLOR Grid'5000 for GENI and AlsaScientificData for GENI. They form a structuring ecosystem, complete and balanced soon with governance in charge of strategic, technical and scientific aspects is proposed at the scale of the three current mesocentres and their respective institutions with the support of representatives of the partner communities, the State and the Grand Est region. The ROMEO-IRCIA for GENI project will allow the installation of a supercomputer capable of meeting both the RD needs of companies, training, research and applied research in HPC and Artificial Intelligence. Since 2013, ROMEO has become the specialist in the design and implementation of such multipurpose equipment, combining energy efficiency and technological innovation at the service of the territory.
