Innovative development of DREAM Repair and Medical Assistance Devices

The prevalence of chronic diseases, cancers and trauma (armed conflicts, road accidents and domestic accidents) creates needs for tissue and biomedical engineering. In this context, the project Devices for Reparation and Medical Assistance (DREAM) aims to (i) develop innovative and bio-inspired prostheses, orthoses and membranes or patches that can be implanted and functionalized, for different medical specialties, and (ii) improve existing medical devices from a sustainability and functionality point of view. To do this, it is necessary to (i) know the physical properties of healthy or pathological tissues, (ii) reproduce them with alternative materials and biomaterials with compatible physical, mechanical and functional properties, (iii) design a design adapted to clinical problems and personalized. This preliminary work of biological and mechanical characterization of targeted healthy and pathological tissues and/or organs will be carried out in order to define the functional and technical specifications for each development. This observation justifies the pooling of pluri- and transdisciplinary skills through the creation of a consortium of researchers, hospital practitioners, industrialists, as well as a support center from the BioValley France competitiveness cluster, all involved in this innovative project.
